Croc Hunter, Croc Getting Killed By A Tiger, Muthafuckin’ Snakes, Art by Cai Guo-QiangAya Kato and Bansky and Music Reviews

Animals
Steve Irwin died - totally sucks but at the same time, I remember watching him in the early days and thinking, ‘this dude is totally get himself killed.’ At least he went out doing something he love. Respect.

Speaking of Crocs:

Check out this clip of a Tiger killing a Croc. Pretty slick, the tiger mounts the croc back (to keep from getting bit or wacked by the tail) and bites the neck for the kill.

Other Muthafuckin’ Reptiles on some Muthafuckin’ Plane:

There’s a Great White Shark at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I missed the last one that was there. Anyone wanna go?

Art

‘Head On’ by Cai Guo-Qiang at the Deutsche Guggenheim in Berlin. 99 life wolves made from sheepskin made to look like it’s crashing into a glass wall. Coolest art exhibit ever!

Aya Kato

Aya Kato’s is one of my favorite illustrators. And now there’s this tee shirt that’s unfortunately sold out. =(

Paris Hilton Vs. Bansky
Bansky is some artist dude in the UK who plays elaborate pranks in the name of art. This time he swaps out store shelves of Paris Hilton CD’s with his ‘remixed’ version. Check the video and the pictures.

CD Reviews:
Gilles Peterson in Brazil - Awesome cd to have in your collection. But it is disapointing that he did not include the tracks he showcased in his podcast (which happens to be the best podcast I’ve listen to- and it’s free!).

Thom Yorke - Like any Radiohead album, his stuff is solid.

Outkast - Idlewild soundtrack is pretty good, although it doesn’t have enough Andre rapping on it.

Jody Watley - Saw her recently live at the Virgin Megastore. She’s incredible live. This album is really, really good. Alot of her classics remixed and familiar tracks redone by her.

Justin Timberlake - I used to not like him, but I like what he’s doing in the new album. Sexy Back and couple other begining tracks is very Fischerpooner.

Beach Angel Compilation - Mark Doyle sold off Hed Kandi and started a new label. Same great sound and same great artwork (Jason Brooks is the man)!

Basement Jaxx - I think these guys are brilliant, but the new album is really dissapointing.

Ghetto Gourmet, Real Firefox, ABC’s, Bump Keys, Limbo Auction, Emmy’s

Ghetto Gourmet
I’ve been meaning to try this.  It’s like the underground food rave scene.  Technically, they can get busted by the restaurant bureau.  They’re not super cheap either, but probably cheaper if they were in a ‘real’ restaurant setting.  Check it out,  maybe we can go together. link here…

Real Firefox…

If you’re still using IE and not Firefox, you are so not cool.  And if you are cool, then you would appreciate this geek joke, or at least think this really, really cute.  Not so cute, however is that this was the type of dog that bit me a few years back.  link here…

Underwear Alphabet Lessons…
Well, it’s more like alphabet represented by superheroes.  How many do you know?  link here…

Bump Keys…
Check out these instructionals on how to get into any house.  Crazy on how easy it is.  My cousin just recently ordered a set on ebay.  And two days letter, ebay sent him a letter saying it’s illegal.  Well the keys aren’t really illegal, but I guess they’re sensitive to that sorta thing.  Sorta beats paying a locksmith also.   link here…

Wall Coverings…
Picking what color paint is so hard, and then I saw this.  I thought this would be pretty cool to have.  Not cheap, but definitely cool and definitely not every house can play it off.  I like the ‘helsinki’ and ‘albert’ design.  link here…

Limbo…
This is a neat web idea, you bid for items by text.  But the neat part is how much people have been getting items for.  And it’s reported as legit.   link here…

The Emmy’s…
This is who I think should win:
(they may or may not be nominated)

best drama:
winner: 24 runner up: nip tuck
best actor: kiefer sutherland, 24
best supporting actor: josh holloway, lost

best comedy:
winner: scrubs runner up: always sunny in philadephia
best actor: steve carell, the office
best supporting: jeremy piven, entourage

best animation:
southpark: for the ‘tom in the closet’ sciencetology bashing episode.

The ‘Product’ Review

July 31st, 2006 by alanism

For whatever reason, guys get all wierd about buying hygene products.  Guys will spend close to a $100 on car wash detergent and waxes to keep their car looking new, but they’ll freak out on spending more than $10 on ‘beauty’ products that will keep them looking new (young) because they’re too concerned of people thinking they’re gay (which is pretty gay in itself).  So here it is, the guy products that I use and would endorse.

Method Bodywash - I love buying Method products because it’s ‘greener’ and the fact that their packaging is awesomely designed by Karim Rashid.  The bodywash is priced well ($5 bucks) and is not heavily fragranced.

Khiel’s Facial Fuel Scrub - Really good facial scrub that doesn’t overly dry out your skin, and it has menthol that makes your skin feel fresh.  It has caffiene in it as well, but uh, I doubt that really does anything.  This is part of their new line gear towards men.  I digg it.

Ole Hendriksen On The Go Exhilarating Cleanser - You can find it at Nordstrom’s and select Sephora’s.  Quality stuff; all kinds of good antioxidants stuff in it (grapeseed extract, ester C, etc.).  I like how it makes your face feel fresh after using it.  $30

Sebastian Evokativ Smooth Taming Anti-Frizz Conditioner - Okay, this has to be the best smelling conditioner ever.  Kinda on the expensive side But I think it’s worth it.

American Crew Citrus Mint Active Shampoo - I like the smell of it, it’s a men’s line, so it doesn’t smell girly.

Shiseido Shampoo & Conditioner - This has to be the best kept secret at Japanese Markets.  I don’t think they even sell this stuff at the better department stores.  Anyways you can get the bulk size shampoo and conditioner for under $10.  The catch is it’s all in japanese, but it’s isn’t that difficult to figure what is shampoo and what is conditioner.

American Crew Citrus Mint Clay - I’ve used so many different kinds of pomade, but this is probably my favorite one of them all.

Benefit Buffing Lip Beads - I hate the feel of waxiness on my lips, so I always hated using lip balm.  But this stuff is really cool, it’s scrubs away the chapped lips and dead skin.  Who cares if it sound girly, it works.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair - Good thing I have a friend that works for Estee Lauder, I would have never bought this myself.  And as a dude, I wouldn’t think of buying eye cream, but it was given to me and the stuff works wonders.  And at $48 for half an ounce, it better.

Web 2.0 and your horoscope

July 18th, 2006 by alanism

here are some my favorite or new “Web 2.0″ sites:

flickr - i think they have the best web apps with their picture organizing feature and how they’re really cell phone surfing friendly. my pictures are linked on there.

digg - the site that i’m on most probably. where people ‘digg’ stories, so you always find the best of the latest and greatest stories.

cork’d - it’s still in the early stages of things, but it’s very elegantly designed. It’s lets you make reviews, save private notes, inventory your wine collection, and add wine to shopping list for what you plan to get. Feel free to get me the ones on my list, especially if you can get me a bottle of dolce or d’yquem.

youtube - who hasn’t heard of youtube? they do a really good job of compressing the videos so it streams pretty fast considering that some of sizes of the videos i uploaded were originally around 50mb and was encoded with divx already. i posted a bunch of mixed martial arts instructional clips for those interested.

dandelife - i just actually signed up today. still in beta and has a very cool concept. it’s autobiographical site that’s very bloggerish with tags. you can also attach flickr and youtube links to it. hopefully i can find the time to use it.

blurb - a site that lets you write/make/publish your books. i’ve been thinking of accumulating all my blog posts and publishing it just for so when i get older. i’ve been blogging since ‘99 though, only 2003 and up is retrievable.

Horoscope - this site probably wouldn’t really qualify as a web 2.0 site especially with the looks, but the app is awesomely detailed with your horoscope information. It’s just not month, but it’s takes account your sun, moon, rising signs since you can give it your time of birth and location.

Zuiiken Gals teaching English with wierd aerobic moves.
So strangely bizarre and strangely addictive to watch.
Go here and here for the youtube videos.

European Castles vs. California Condos

You can literally find Castles, Chateaus and huge old Estates in Europe
for the price as Lofts in SF or Condos in Newport Beach.  There is
something seriously wrong with this.  Check this out, I’ve seen condos
and track homes listed more than this place (picture below).  Or look at this; Louis XIV era 7 bedroom, 6 bath, 74 acre castle in France for $2.5 mill
31a

Zaha Hadid is probably the best architect out right now.  her building designs are amazing!

Gandia Tipi
- Ever since going to Nikki Beach in South Beach a few years back, I’ve
always wanted to have tipi in my yard some day.  And this design is so
damn cool!Tipi

Nike + Apple -  Man,
I really, really, really want this!  Especially since, I’ve been
running so much that I finally got a ‘flat’ on my current nike airs
(kid you not!).  I think it’s so awesome that you record and log all
your information onto the computer.  At $100 bucks for the shoes and
another $30 for the attachment isn’t too bad.  Well I still have to
upgrade to a nano (Bobby! where you at!?!).

Be Smarter…

buildyourmemory.com
as i get older, my memory has gone to shits.  anyways here’s an interesting site to help you improve your memory.

mindtools.com
probably one of the most of the most useful sites i’ve ever found.

modafinil
i heard about this stuff last year, and have been really curious to try it.
“Modafinil improves memory, and enhances one’s mood, alertness and cognitive powers. The drug has a smoother feel than amphetamines and enables the user to stay awake and alert for 40 hours or more. Once the drug wears off, you just have to catch up on some sleep."

i’ve always posted blogs  and doing work late at night.  probably explains all my spelling and grammar errors.  and that’s why i’ve been curious to try this stuff.

crazy iq test
much harder than the standard stuff you’ll find than on sites like on tickle.com

neat technology

teen repellent and teen-only ring tone
"Compound Security Systems Ltd, through extensive R&D has produced the MOSQUITO™ unit that uses complex high frequency sound to chase away those annoying teenagers!!!"

but now teen are using the same noise for their ringtones so teachers can’t hear. hahahaa
talk about being able to cheat at a much highter level.

programmable tattoos
programmable tattoos.  somebody has a patent on being able to send messages or display information on your skin.

swedes are crazy cool

thepiratebay was shut down for a couple of days after swedish police raided their offices.  right after they got shut down, mpaa releases this statement.   and a few days later when they were back up, they had this image:
Hollybay

i love how they post their legal threat letters on line and just laughes at all those companies.

then there are these swedes; who crash enzo ferrari drunk and claim they weren’t the driver and they also happen to have quasi police badges.  real life is so much stranger than fiction.

bo jackson + barry bonds, whedon + x-men, sinatra+jobim

Sports
Bo Jackson vs. Barry Bonds

Growing
up as a Raiders fan, my main sports idol was Bo Jackson.  He was just a
phenomenal athelete and may have been the world’s greatest, if we you
consider that he was around 220-230 lb and was running 40 yard dashes
at 4.1 sec and nailing home runs way pass the 400 ft mark.  He was just
supernatural and a freak of nature, which made people think wonder if
he was on steroids.  His response?  Go head look at old blood test, he
had nothing to hide, and was willing to take his accusers to court for
libel.  On the flipside, you see Bonds and the others deny, deny, deny,
and refuse to test, and give the whole ‘not to my knowledge’, ‘no
recollection’ excuses.  Bo Jackson handled his accusers how it should
handled as a innocent person.  And Bonds handled it how it should be
handled as somebody guilty who doesn’t want to admit guilt.

However,
with or without use of gear, Bonds is the way better ballplayer than
Bo, and way better than most players in the hall of fame now.  And to
be honest, I think professional atheletes should have the right to use
steroids.  Their job is to entertain, which means delivering the
hardest hits and scoring as much as possible.  And that’s what Bonds,
McGuire, Sosa  gave us.  The standard is also true in Hollywood, don’t
think actors don’t juice either.  The thing I hate most about the
steroid debate is how it affects kids.

Anyways here’s a short documentary on one of the greatest natural atheletes ever:

..>
books
Astonishing X-men vol 1.
I
haven’t really read comics probably since elementary.  But when I heard
Josh Whedon was writing a X-men series, I couldn’t wait to find it
online.  For those who don’t know, he’s the creator of Buffy the
Vampire Slayer and Firefly/Serenity series as is really great at
character development.    The new series is really well done,  has
awesome art work, good humor, great story arcs and is really acessible
to those not into reading comic books.  It’s a shame x-men the movie
coming this summer isn’t off this story line and has him directing it.amazon link…

music
sinatra & jobim - quiet nights   girl from ipanema
my two most favorite bossa nova songs by the greats!
.. ..>

some songs you should check out:

feist - inside and out (i think it’s a bee gee’s cover)
reel people - you used to hold me (real cool cover of 80’s thelma houston).
nelly furtado - promiscious (with the timbaland beat, will probably this summer’s anthem)
sleepy brown - margarita (pharrel and big boi, real catchy)
the coup - my favorite mutiny (quality hip hop)
mr. v. & miss patty - da bump (has that cool beatstreet vibe to it).
gotan project - amor porteno (tango!)
junkie xl - youthful (very depeche mode-ish)
go home productions - uptight maggie (stevie wonder mash-up)

Satelite Images, Skeletor Show, Free TV (porn), Bodygroom

May 8th, 2006 by alanism

Science
One of the neatest things in the last year or so, is the ability to check out satellite images easily on the web with google earth and the other competitors.  A9 you can get street level shots of store fronts, MSN has bird eyes view.  Anyhoo, this site has some cool shots of ancient pyramids, stonehenge, easter island, etc.  that I thought was pretty neat.link here…

The Skeletor Show
If you like Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim’s Sealab and Birdman, and born in the late 70’s, than you’ll appreciate this.   Skeletor telling everybody to get linux for the trailer is hella-hella funny!  Watch it now.  You tube link…

Free TV (and porn too)
This is wwaaaayyyyyyyyyyy cool!  You can watch cable channels, including european channels streaming from the web.  70 channels in all, including 4 porn (i wonder how many more people has read this post because I mention porn-  perverts!) and a ‘men lingerie tv’ channel (WTF?), MTV, Sci-Fi channel and the other news stuff.  This is really cool for somebody who’s usually too cheap to pay for satelite or cable tv (…uh, me).  I actually have issues viewing it from my browser,  but was able to watch some of the channels through vlc player.  link here…

Phillips Bodygroom
This is hands down one of the best and funniest viral web marketing advertising I’ve seen in a long time.  Real ballsy on Phillips Norelco part.   link here…

Colbert pwns Bush, How I met your mother, Revolver, Strikeforce

May 1st, 2006 by alanism

Politics
steven colbert roasting bush at the correspondence dinner was hilarious.  one of the best parts, is when steven colbert looks right at bush and says,

"Sir pay no attention to the people who say the glass is half empty, because 32% means it’s 2/3 empty. There’s still some liquid in that glass is my point, but I wouldn’t drink it.
The last third is usually backwash."

"Then you write they’re just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. First of all, that is a terrible metaphor. This administration is not sinking. This administration is soaring. If anything, they are rearranging the deck chairs on the Hindenburg."

There were a lot of uneasy silence that night.  I can’t wait to watch the Daily Show and Colbert Report tonight on their take to what happened.  Youtube link here…

TV
How I Met Your Mother - is the next friends.  Funniest new sitcom right now.  The writing is surprisingly witty especially with ‘Doogie Howser’ as Barney is so damn funny.  Read his ‘fake’ blog.  Barney’s Blog here…

Movies
Revolver  - guy ritchie, jason stratham, andre 3000, ray liotta and one of the sopranos dude.  If you like snatch, you’ll like this.  Crime flic with a lot of clever one liners.  Hopefully, guy ritchie makes more movies like these sooner.  link here…

Strikeforce
I can’t wait for the next event in San Jose.  The last one, had a lot of good fighters fighting a bunch of tomato cans but it was still fun to watch.  This time they have Vitor Belfort vs Kevin Randleman which should be a really good match up.  Hopefully Frank Shamrock is in again against somebody closer to his own skill level.  link here…
Belfort

Engrish Instructional to hit on Blondes, Midget Muay Thai, Alien Baby, Basquiat Tagging, Couture Training, JJ Abrams to Star Trek

April 21st, 2006 by alanism

Funniest Japanese Engrish Instructional Video Ever.
This is hilarious!!!  It’s a video instructional to teach Japanese guys ‘key’ english words to hit on white chicks.  It teaches the viewer how to say ‘cock, pussy, blowjob, etc.’  The best part is at the end where they have a Japanese dude use the words he learn on a White chic who barely speaks english herself (probably some eastern european descent).  Total must see.  link here…
Jpenglishles

Midget Muay Thai Bout
Check out this awesome Muay Thai Kickboxing fight between the two midgets.  One midgets does a summersault headstand kick to drop a Tong Po mini-me.  Hilarious.  link here…

Alien Baby
This is more sad than funny.  But also more scary than sad also.  So maybe I chill with the ‘chics should be on a pill incase they get raped by aliens’ or ‘aliens really should wear wear condoms’ or ’somebody pissing in the gene pool’ jokes.  i could go on and on, but i won’t, though i’m tempted.  Anyways poor baby  has a condition called anencephaly.  Check the wiki link to find out more, and read about the article about the nepal baby pictured below.  link here…

Health & Fitness
Randy Couture Circuit Lifting Video
So for the whole month of April, I’ve been really consistent about working out again.  3 hours of Kickboxing and Jitsu and 30-45 minutes of lifting; three to five times a week.  Eating Diet has been pretty good but I didn’t last on my old Chicken Breast and Veggie diets.  Anyways, my lifting routine has been very similiars to Randy Coutures.  I like it because I’m really limited to one barbell at home.  Check it out.  link here…

Art
Jean Michel Basquiat Tagging Video

80’s art icon and the guy that made graffitti to be considered as real art.  Here’s a video of him tagging some walls from way back when.  Reebok also has a new line that’s named after him as well.  link here…

JJ Abrams to do next Star Trek

For you closet trekkies and other sci-fi geeks outhere.  The creator of Lost/Alias is doing the next Star Trek Flic.  I guess they’re trying to make Star Trek hip again.  I personally would much rather them have Josh Wheldon (buffy the vampire slayer, firefly/serenity creator) do it.  But anyways I’m sure Abrams will do it some good, except he better have a ending unlike the lost series.  They also mentioned they wanted it to be a early years of Kirk and Spock.  That’s a real tuffie, because when you think of spock & kirk it’s leonard nimoy and cheesy william shatner.  I could imagine them pissing off a lot of fans of they don’t pick the cast right, and you know how trekkies are.  My initial picks would be Vince Vaughn or Ryan Reynolds for Cpt. Kirk because it would be funny to see them hit on alien babes.  For Spock, I’d say Johnny Depp because he’s a oddball or maybe Christian Bale because he’s geeks-approved.
